Our Story

The story of CCHC first starts with the story of Christ Community Church. In June of 2010 a few friends felt God calling them to plant a church and move into hurting neighborhoods in southwest Oklahoma City, bringing the love of Jesus with them. What started as a few friends meeting in a living room on Sunday mornings has become a church dedicated to seeing the Kingdom of God advancing throughout its community through prayer, teaching, and fellowship.

As the members of Christ Community Church continued meeting their neighbors, sharing the gospel, and engaging with the community, they began seeing several common problems, one of which was poor healthcare. Looking at the skillsets represented among the members, with several in the medical field, it became clear God could be calling them to love their neighbors through providing a quality medical ministry. Thus, Christ Community Health Coalition was born in December of 2014. Since January 2015, we have continued to have weekly free clinics, regular health fairs, and growing relationships with the people of our community.

Our Values

Jesus Christ

CCHC is an explicitly Christian organization. Our first loyalty is to Jesus, whom we believe to be the Son of God and the only hope for true healing and life in the world. We aim to share the love of Jesus openly through our words and deeds.

Human Dignity

All human beings are created in the image of God (see Genesis 1:26-28). As such, human persons have inherent dignity that is independent of their racial, ethnic, economic, cultural, or religious status. Consequently, CCHC is committed to treating all people with respect and kindness.

Holistic Healing

We believe that humanity suffers complex brokenness as a result of our sin. We are thus in need of holistic care. CCHC aims to use the resources God has given us to pursue physical, emotional, and spiritual healing for ourselves and our neighbors.

Mercy

Jesus shows us that God’s heart is full of mercy toward the suffering, the poor, the marginalized, and the afflicted. The leadership and staff of CCHC believe that we are daily dependent upon this mercy of God, and we aim to share God’s mercy with others as well. Consequently, we are committed to offering kindness and mercy to the poor and marginalized in our community.

Justice

Sometimes well-meaning efforts to show mercy inadvertently create long-term patterns of inequality and dependence that are unjust. Such efforts ultimately deny the inherent dignity of all human beings. CCHC is committed to pursuing mercy in wise ways that aim toward lasting justice in our community. As such, we are committed to empowering indigenous leaders, upholding the equal value of every human being, offering the same quality of care to the poor as to those with more resources, and respecting the right of individuals to make personal lifestyle decisions. We also aim to pursue justice by promoting public health through education, nutrition, exercise, and high quality medical care for all people.

The Local Church

We believe that the local church is God’s primary instrument for bringing his healing love into the world. As such, we are committed to partnering with local churches, strengthening local churches, and encouraging people to become active members of local churches. The Corporation has a special relationship with Christ Community Church (Oklahoma City), but we are also committed to strengthening and working with other sister churches in our community and beyond.

Leadership Development

We are committed to training leaders who are highly competent health care professionals as well as spiritually mature Christians with a vision to make disciples.

The Bible

We believe that the Bible is the uniquely inspired word of God. Consequently, we aim to conduct ourselves in accordance with the wisdom of Christian scripture, which informs all of our other values. We also seek to pass on biblical teaching as a means for pursuing spiritual and emotional healing in our community.
